The Rapid Configuration Tool
for AX
What tool (s) are you using to Plan for and Deploy AX 2009?
Here are a few questions to consider and some high-level information in
regard to using RCT (the Rapid Configuration Tool) for your AX project.
Why
would you use a ‘generic’ ERP Implementation, Configuration and
Deployment methodology when you can use RCT (Rapid Configuration Tool)
to configure and deploy AX?
Why
have separate PMO Planning and Control tools (e.g. Issue Management and
Change Management tools) and a Project Management tool (e.g. a tool for
identifying Project Tasks, dependencies, task estimates, resource
identification and assignments etc.), when RCT can handle both tasks in
an ‘integrated’ fashion from within the AX environment?
Just some of the RCT Functionality:
-
RCT
integrates with AX as a module just like any other AX Module like
Accounts Receivable
-
RCT identifies
activities (tasks) and dependencies to plan for, configure and
deploy AX
-
RCT
activities/tasks are focused on the ‘required’ and ‘optional’ tasks
required to plan for and deploy AX
-
RCT provide ‘Best
Practice’ documentation at the activity/task level or use the AX
Task recorder to create your own Best Practice documents and attach
them to RCT activities/tasks as required
-
RCT tracks Issues
and Change Requests via the push of a button at the activity/task
level
-
RCT contains all
of the templates you will need for things like Change Control and
these templates can be populated directly via functions within the
RCT
-
RCT can store and
track relevant documents (e.g. Change Requests) at the activity/task
level
-
RCT plans can be
exported to MS-Project, modified (if necessary) and imported into
RCT
These
are just a few of the things that you can do with the RCT for AX.
If you are using another approach and things are not going well,
consider using the RCT to ‘audit’ your current approach and
drop us a line if you
would like to discuss our services in more detail.
