There are three types of portals that you can implement. Here are a few things to ponder prior to beginning a web portal project:

1. Intranet Sites: (For Employees)
   
   When you install the EP Framework using AX Setup it will create an Intranet Site by default.
   
   You cannot create Company Specific Intranet Sites.
    

2. Extranet Sites: (For Employees, Customers and Vendors)
   
   You need to setup and configure a perimeter network.
   
   You need to obtain an SSL Certificate.
    

3. Internet Sites:
   
   You cannot use the default Web Application and Site created when you used setup to install the EP Framework because the EP Portal Internet site must use 'anonymous authentication!
   
   To view this site as an 'anonymous' user you must enable 'anonymous logon' user authentication in your web browser.
