In general, most of the technologies
that are used to build custom E-Business applications will fall
into one of the four categories listed
in the table below. These
E-Business applications can be built from scratch using these
tools but due to 'time to market' and other constraints, it is
more likely that they will be built by 'assembling' and
'integrating' individual packaged applications. The technology
picture for B2B or B2C can be very complex, but the key is still
to build an integrated business model that is supported by good
business and system specifications. Although some custom
development work is inevitable, most of the components for
building an E-Business application can be bought off the shelf or
obtained through partnerships.
